How I Maintain my Milk Supply when Working Out

Milk supply remedies

The following post is sponsored by Oat Mama.  All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own.

We are approaching six months since welcoming Declan to our family.  Six months?!?!  Where oh where has the time gone.  While I have been knee deep in the thick of mama life, I am finally starting to focus on me again.  Self care is something I am trying to make a priority as I know the importance a happy mom makes on the family. Working out has always been part of my life but because I breastfeed, I dread incorporating a workout regime back into the mix in fear of my milk supply dropping.  I have finally found a solution that helps me maintain my milk supply when trying to get back into shape!

I exclusively breastfeed so it is extremely important to me to maintain a healthy and plentiful milk supply.  When I started working out after my first son, I would drink Mother’s Milk lactation tea to help compensate for the calories and possible drop in milk supply.  I’m not really sure if it helped or not and the taste is terrible so I really didn’t want to go that route this time around.  I see other teas, bars, and cookies that support lactation in stores and online and I thought this time around I would try something that hopefully tasted better and provided results.  So having the opportunity to try the Oat Mama line was perfect.

I will admit it.  I am overly picky with ingredients and can be kind of a snob when it comes to trying new foods.  The fact that Oat Mama’s bars are made without any added fillers, like gluten, dairy, soy, or egg really spoke to my heart!

The Oat Mama lactation tea line is one of the most diverse I have seen.  The flavor selection is sure to please even the pickiest tastebuds like mine and the Chai Spice flavor is phenonmenal!  I make mine into a latte by adding almond milk, cinnamon and a drizzle of honey.  So good!

Since beginning a workout regime and using Oat Mama’s lactation bars and teas, I have not lost any of my milk supply.  In fact, I have seen an increase!  I work out a minimum of 3 days a week at the moment and my son is still 100% exclusively breastfed, happy and healthy weighing in at close to 18lbs.  I truly attribute some of this success to finding the perfect lactation snacks to add into my regime.  I can workout without fear of my milk supply plummeting.

I love supporting companies who give back and Oat Mama donates a portion of every tea purchase to Mother’s Milk Bank which delivers life saving breast milk to NICU babies.  How amazing is that!

I don’t have experience with this, but I have seen moms use them. I recommended them to a friend a few months back when she was struggling with her milk supply. I have never heard a bad word about them! So glad you are able to keep on keepin’ on!
